Aug. 14, 2001: Entrance to the Harry Carey Ranch property at 28515 San Francisquito Canyon Road.
Actor Harry Carey purchased a 160-acre homestead in San Francisquito Canyon c. 1916 and
later added to it. Carey sold the property in 1944, three years before his death.
The ranch was eventually acquired c. 1953 by Bernard "Barney" Clougherty and his younger brother Francis
Clougherty, owners of the Farmer John brand of meat products. The Cloughertys sold the property
in 1998 to Montalvo Properties LLC, developer of the Tesoro del Valle project.
The "FJ" symbol over the ranch gate is the "Farmer John" brand.
