Placerita State Park Dedication, 1959
Placerita Canyon
[1st View][CLEM & PAULA COX INDEX]
The dedication of Placerita State Park (operated by the County of Los Angeles) in 1959
included a reenactment of Francisco Lopez's famous 1842 discovery of gold at the Oak of the
Golden Dream, seen here. The man at left is Paul Palmer, a Sand Canyon resident and
Los Angeles-area attorney who was involved in
the deal that brought the Placerita parkland into public ownership. (Paul Palmer was
father to Paula Palmer, who married Leona Cox's son Clem.)
