Inside of the program to Henry T. Gage's inaugural ball on Monday, Jan. 9, 1899, showing California's new constitutional officers: Gage, Governor; Jacob H. Neff, Lt. Governor; Charles F. Curry, Secretary of State; Howard P. Colgan, Controller; Truman Reeves, Treasurer; Timmy L. ?, Attorney General; Martin J. Wright, Surveyor-General; George W. Root, Clerk of the Supreme Court; Thomas J. ?, Superintendent of Public Instruction; and Alfred J. Johnston, Superintendent of State Printing.

Gage, a Republican, became governor of California on Jan. 5, 1899, and served one term. He owned several successful gold mines in the Acton area.
