Narrative: A former Hart High School student, PFC Robert L. Whisler served in the 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was sent to South Korea on July 16, 1950, and immediately went to the front lines. PFC Whisler was killed in action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on September 3, 1950. The details of his death, at age 19, are unknown. PFC Whisler was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
