Saugus Train Station Moves
To Heritage Junction
[ZOOM OUT]
Tuesday, June 24, 1980: The 1887 Saugus Train Station crosses the Newhall Creek, between 13th Street and Lyons Avenue
(?), as it makes its 2½-mile journey north on San Fernando Road from its original
location in Saugus to Heritage Junction Historic Park, home of the Santa Clarita Valley
Historical Society.
The historical society, then just 4½ years young, organized a massive community effort
to save the station from the Southern Pacific Railroad's wrecking ball.
