Pico Canyon, California
[ZOOM IN]
Overview of Mentryville, c. 1920s, after the water tank was added at left. At right is the "Big House" (the oil field superintendent's 13-room mansion). Immediately above it (to its east) is the dance hall that no longer exists. Immediately above the dance hall is the Felton School, built in 1885 and used until 1932 (it still exists). At left in the foreground is the barn, which also still exists. All of the buildings, including the school and barn, were painted in a cream color.See the same view of Mentryville before the water tank was added, here.
