Virginia Casarez Gurule


Virginia went to her heavenly resting place Wednesday March 15, 2017. She was born in Clint Texas on September 20, 1925, the fifth of 8 children to Jose de la Luz and Refugio (Cuca) Casarez. Her childhood was spent in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the family relocated to Tulare, California, and later to Salinas California. At age 18 she went to visit her oldest sister in Los Angeles, California, and there she met the man she would marry and be with for next 72 years. Pat and Virginia married in 1944.

Virginia resided in Lakewood, California from 1954 until 2002, then relocated to San Marcos, California until 2013 when she moved to Santa Clarita, California.

Virginia had 4 children was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also well known for her fabulous cooking of red and green New Mexico chili.

She is survived by her husband Pat, her son Edward and his wife Gloria, daughter Anita and her husband David, daughter in law Rachel, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her son Freddie and daughter Patricia, and her 7 siblings.

The family would like a special thanks to all the care givers at Elder Creek Villa where she resided for the last 3 years, especially Mencio.

Funeral arrangements made by Eternal valley memorial park mortuary viewing:

Tuesday March 21, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Rosary following at 6 p.m.

Funeral mass Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Kateri Catholic Church 22508 Copper Hill Dr., Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
