August 13, 2017 — Marie Wren of Fillmore was named Rancho Camulos Museum's Docent of the Year during an annual recognition dinner Sunday at the museum.

A booster of the museum since 2000, Wren was the museum's first official docent — she even led its first official tour — and was the first president of its Docent Council. She also organized the museum's gift shop.

Wren retired as an active docent a few years ago, only immerse herself in the effort to create a research library and reading room inside one of the museum's historic adobe buildings.

She helped raise funds for library and enlisted the aid of Chevron Corp., which has donated $2,000 to date. Her own financial contribution helped offset costs of furnishings, library supplies and interior improvements.

Most recently, Wren donated her extensive collection of Southern California and Western History books, and then volunteered her time to help process the collection.

The library opened June 11. You're likely to catch Marie Wren working there on the first Sunday afternoon of the month.

Rancho Camulos Museum is located 10 miles west of Valencia on scenic Highway 126. Visit RanchoCamulos.org.
