Hart High graduate (Class of 1974) and College of the Canyons alumnus Bob Walk won the first game of the 1980 World Series for the Philadelphia
Phillies, who went on to beat the Kansas City Royals in six games. A third-round draft pick by the Phillies in in June 1976, Walk, a 1988 National
League All-Star, went 105-81 with a 4.05 ERA in his 14-year career with the Phillies, Atlanta Braves
and Pittsburgh Pirates, with whom he signed in 1984 as a free agent. After he hung up his glove he
stayed with the Pirates as the color man for the ball club's television and radio broadcast team.
