Magic Mountain Medal, 1971
Valencia, California

Opening-year medal from Magic Mountain amusement park in Valencia, showing some of the biggest attractions of the day: the 384-foot-high Sky Tower, Log Jammer, Metro (monorail) and Grand Prix racetrack.

Magic Mountain opened Memorial Day weekend, 1971, with a community preview night on Thursday, May 27. It was built and initially owned and operated by The Newhall Land and Farming Co., master developer of the community of Valencia.
