Ivan Dorset

Henry Ivan Dorset was 18 years old in March 1928 when the mighty St. Francis Dam crumbled, to the peril of at least 450 people in the floodpath from Saugus to the sea. Included in the death rolls were Lyman Curtis, husband of Ivan's sister Lillian, and their two little girls. In this special episode, Ivan tells his very personal tale of what the history texts call "America's worst civil engineering failure of the 20th Century."

Jo Anne Darcy

An unprecedented four terms as mayor earned her the honorary title of Santa Clarita's "Mayor Emeritus." But Jo Anne Darcy's legacy in the Santa Clarita Valley actually begins in Acton in the 1960s, when Jo Anne and her late husband Curtis bought the Acton '49er saloon. Hear the old Acton stories and learn how Jo Anne went from making semiconductors for the military to running a restaurant and bar, to running the chamber of commerce, and ultimately running a city.
