Uranium and Thorium Add Interest
in Gold-Silver Claims Near Saugus.

LOS ANGELES — Wm. G. Marr and associates have granted a lease for a term of 20 years for their block of 21 claims, located in Los Angeles county, about 10 miles NE of Saugus. These claims contain uranium, thorium, rare earths, cerium and lanthanum, also gold and silver, says Mr. Marr.
A large portion of the claims have been held for the gold and silver deposits since 1951. Additional claims were staked when radio activity was discovered, covering a large area. This area has been gridded for a distance of 1½ miles on the claims.Many Hot Spots Prompt Drilling
Many hot spots on the property have been opened, preparatory for diamond drilling. Considerable development work has also been done, including a 110-foot tunnel also a shaft.
The lease was made to Ann Butler Berner, North Hollywood, who assigned it to her corporation, the Arizona-Nevada-American International Corporation, a Nevada corporation.
This corporation intends moving drilling equipment onto the property. Wm. G. Marr will be the supervisor of mines belonging to the corporation; he says it also has oil property in Wyoming under production.Northern California Association
Ann Butler Berner is president of the corporation and lists John Ratto of Sutter Creek, Amador County, and Frank Jordan, California Secretary of State, Sacramento, as associates. They are company directors.
Webmaster's Note: "10 miles NE of Saugus" would probably put this somewhere in Mint Canyon, up Sierra Highway.
